Molasses-Ginger Snaps
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup lard
1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1 large T. ginger
1 t cinnamon
1 t ground cloves
1 t allspice
1 t allspice
1 t baking soda in 6 T boiling water
2-3 cups flour

Beat together butter, ard and sugar. Add molasses,spices and soda/water. Stir in enough flour to make a stiff dough.Roll into pieces the size of hickory nuts in hand and flatten. Bake in a moderate oven for 10-15 minutes or until browned.
